This drink combines a strawberry margarita with a blueberry margarita and a splash of lemon-lime soda water to create a delicious fizzy float. Check out this recipe below and celebrate July 4th with a delicious alcoholic float!

Strawberry Margarita

  • 1 cup strawberries chopped
  • 1/3 cup sugar or honey
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3-1/2 cup tequila I used 1/3 cup, use lemon-lime soda or lime-aid for a non-alcoholic version
  • 2 tablespoons cointreau use orange juice for a non-alcoholic version
  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice only use 1-2 tablespoons if making the non-alcoholic version

Blueberry Margarita

  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1/3 cup sugar or honey
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3-1/2 cup tequila (again I used 1/3 cup) (lemon-lime soda or lime-aid for a non-alcoholic version)
  • 2 tablespoons cointreau use orange juice for a non-alcoholic version
  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice only use 1-2 tablespoons if making the non-alcoholic version

For the float

  • salt for the rims
  • 2-3 scoops per person of vanilla coconut ice cream or regular vanilla bean ice cream
  • lemon-lime soda water
  • fresh strawberries + blueberries

Directions

  1. Combine the strawberries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries break down, about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from the heat and pour the mixture into a blender. Puree until smooth. Alternatively, you can strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, pushing the juices out of the strawberries. Pour the mixture into a small juice jug and add the tequila (or lemon-lime soda), cointreau (or orange juice) and fresh lime juice. Cover and refrigerate until cold or until ready to use.
  3. Combine the blueberries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries soften, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat and pour the mixture into a blender. Puree until smooth. Alternatively, you can strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, pushing the juices out of the blueberries. Pour the mixture into a small juice jug and add the tequila (or lemon-lime soda), cointreau (or orange juice) and fresh lime juice. Cover and refrigerate until cold or until ready to use.
  5. To make the floats layer 1-2 tablespoons of strawberry margarita with a few fresh berries, 1 scoop of ice cream and 1-2 tablespoons blueberry margarita until your glass is almost full (but leave a little room at the top). Pour the soda water over top until it reaches the lip of the glass.

July 4th drink recipes

This vodka lemonade slush just screams summer and the red, white, and blue layers definitely make it stand out against other July 4th drink recipes. If you want a drink that’s not only delicious but will cool you down then this slush is for you. The combination of vodka and lemonade make it the perfect drink to sip on as you wait for the fireworks to fill the sky. Treat your friends to the perfect July 4th drink and serve up this vodka lemonade slush!

  • 9 cup ice separated. Note: may need up to 12 cups.
  • 1 cup grenadine
  • 1 cup Blue Curacao
  • 1 cup vodka
  • 1 cup lemonade

Directions

  1. Using a food processor, crush mix 3 cups of ice and grenadine syrup together until slushy. Note: You need this layer to be extra thick, so if needed, add up to 1 cup more ice and blend. When finished, set aside.
  2. Repeat the step for the Blue Curacao, blending with 3 cups of ice until slushy. Like the last layer, you want this to be extra thick. If needed, add up to 1 more cup of ice and blend. Set aside.
  3. Add vodka, lemonade, and remaining 3 cups of ice to the blender and mix until slushy. It’s not as important for this layer to be thick, but it should be comparable to the others. Add up to 1 more cup of ice if needed. When finished, set aside.
  4. Prepare drinks by layering the flavors in this order: grenadine, blue curacao, and finish with the vodka lemonade on top.
  5. Serve immediately.
